Could we try not complaining for at least a week?
on: August 25, 2018, 05:17:28 PM
I know everyone's moans and cry are justified. As usual the new campaign update came with it's fair share of major hiccups, but come on, if we are still here sticking it out with all the flaws the least we can do is be grateful they tried!

Yes, Mercury steam makes very bad decisions. Almost all the ideas we give them gets messed up some kinda way but at least they are trying! Did we forget that no other developer would work with their community like MS is? There is so much to be annoyed with but also plenty be grateful for!

No more shared rewards, not forced to play as antagonist, weapons asked to nerfed got nerfed and some got buffed, and some other shit!

I'm not saying to accuse their blunders but if you're willing to put up with there shit the least you can do is say "thanks for listening!" Or come up with more interesting topics that aren't reminders that the devs sucks. Show appreciation for the game. Talk about lore, discuss  characters and weapons but enough of the hate. It's burning me out and coming to these forums aren't really fun and kinda never really was since most of what we did/do is talk about the flaws and how to improve them.

How would you feel if you were a noob just now coming into the offical forums and so everyone talk about how 'this and that' sucks? Think about how deterring it is for the developers to see their community constantly upset? They are not EA they deserve a little respect.

I'm not very creative but I'm gonna make a effort to start more positive game related topics instead being so angry with the devs. They're only humans. Humans fuck up sometimes

I don't know man, this last update was a pretty big f**k up. And sure the devs are listening but like you said they just keep messing up with just the dumbest design decisions I have ever seen on a game as a service model. This has been going on for almost an entire year and you'd think they'd know better by now. And maybe if our complaints where addressed in a more direct manner by the devs, letting us know what they are working on, maybe we wouldn't bitch and moan so much cause we would at least know that they are working on the hot button issues. I'm just getting really tired of the two steps forward two steps back progression this game has had.

I don't know either, because they try really hard to scare me off, and play somthing else.
Yes of course there are things to like about the new update (new campaign, new Character), but the whole reward debacle, like Power Penguin said one step forward two steps back.

The importance and the main reason to complain is that if all these problems are not corrected quickly, the game will lose a lot of new players entering these days. I am already a "veteran" player and updating the game does not affect me too much, but to think that the community of a game that we like so much will not grow, that terrifies me.

I agree. They really did listen to us with these new changes. It brought more new players in as well and I'm very happy to see them and I started making new friends. I hope they stay on this game and enjoy it.

They're no where near like Blizzard where they destroy characters people love and ignore their community. That's what shoved me away from Overwatch and brought me to this game months ago. I can deal with a few little hiccups. This is a small company just trying their best and I really am going to give them a chance.

To be perfectly honest, I almost made two separate rants on a few of the issues addressed because I do think the devs might not be totally good developers or they just have shitty decision making skills because yeah this has been going on since the very beginning and it completely sucks,  but like I also said,  if we're willing to stick with it we gotta show some gratitude.

The developers are humans and when humans get pushed far enough they'll push back.  With all the negativity I am sure the developers will probably call it quits from the stress of a player base that just point out their flaws.

We gotta balance our criticisms with our appreciation, and  that requires MERCURY STEAM part too! They said a long time ago they didn't want to directly get involved but I agree with you that they need to at this point. They need to communicate with us, but to be honest they'll probably never happen because the player base and the developers has a completely different mindset from each other.

I want to point out that I was considering two choices: staying with the game/community and try to help be better, or move on to better one. I'm talking former because the potential for this game is too great, but I can't blame anyone for leaving.

I haven't gotten one single goddamn Bluprint since this patch dropped. This is the WORST they've EVER done with BP in the history of this game.

My blueprint gain for the first 24 hours:
1 Timer: bp duplicate = NOTHING
2 Timer: bp not earned = NOTHING
3 Timer: NO bp at all on the mission grid = NOTHING

So, this makes it really hard to stay positive, right!?

I changed my mind. I'm deleting the thread I made about the pros and cons. They took out the incentive to play.

I actually haven't had problems with getting BPs. I don't understand how it works but I've been getting them.
That's not to excuse the weird ass one or two per 12 hours but personally I've been really lucky, I guess, but still hate the gold grindl!

I'm not trying to undermine the terrible flaws of the update, it's just hard to come to the forums and want to stay in the community and even play the game when you're constantly reminded what a very flawed game you're playing.  I'm struggling to stay on as is since I never lasted long on grind heavy game anyway.

I am sorry if I came off as diminishing everyone's concerns and complaints.

All of this can apply to EA as well.

How would you feel if you were a noob just now coming into the offical forums and so everyone talk about how 'this and that' sucks? Think about how deterring it is for the developers to see their community constantly upset?

That's more just a reason to avoid game forums altogether.  They're all crap.

And, yes, this argument could also apply to EA.

They are not EA they deserve a little respect.

Aren't they?

Command and Conquer 4
EA: Let's force people to have an online connection even for the single player.

(Years Later)

Spacelords
MercurySteam:  Let's force people to have an online connection even for the single player.

Sounds pretty much like a wannabe-EA to me.

I could deal with the hiccups.  As I've said before, they've managed to botch the launch for every campaign so I was expecting the same thing.  Maybe not to the extent that this one has had the ball dropped but they're well beyond the point that they should have BETA TEST tattooed onto the inside of their eyelids.  Still, given their history, it would just be another "eyeroll" moment.

However, taking away offline mode (and locking the "training mode" behind a 5 star requirement as well as level requirements) is a deliberate "screw you" to the playerbase.  As such, they deserve as much venom thrown at them as EA has gotten for their consumer-unfriendly decisions.

And you can't say that they didn't know this would be unpopular because this was not mentioned even once in their "Inside Raiders" videos.  They knew that this would be unpopular so they just skipped over any mention of this change which is ALSO the standard EA tactic for consumer-unfriendly changes.  Force the changes through without warning and then just ride out any criticism.

Not a negative forum post will scare the new players.
I bet, half of them not even know (or care about) game forums.

They got scared because they have to win at least 5 online matches in a game, they never played before, to gain acces to the TRAINING mode!
They got scared because there is almost 10 level grinding between two levels of the same campaign, and those 10 levels not even enough to manage a certain character, with a proper gun, or cards.
They got scared because a high level character costs 180000 gold, while they spent already 12000-60000 on weapons, exp buffs and card shuffleing,(before they even know, what that character will be cost, because they lock all of the characters info behind level requirements...) while the medium prize for a succesful adventure is 1000g.

It is a world of fortnite, overwatch and other games, that give you prizes, if you just farted before your pc. A game of mass blind grinding will scare them away.

I can say as a new player... I am rather upset currently... I'm an Xbox player and the game is completely unplayable right now.... with no offline mode and the servers (or lack of) not working or barely working... it's a huge turn off. Myself and 5 other friends were stoked when Raiders was made free (and a bit confused by the name changed as well but whatever XD) and we couldn't wait to play... (had to due to one having bad net and taking forever to download it) only to get on and sit around for hours trying to get past the FORCED solo mission that for whatever reason doesn't load. A few got lucky and got into it while the rest of us sat around annoyed listening to them geek out about it.

The game looks great and having finally managed to get the forced solo mission to launch, it's a lot of fun. I've heard now that MS is planning on having a fix on Monday but, from what I understand, nobody knows what is causing the problem. The forums aren't really a big deal to me since it does actually make us feel a little better knowing that this isn't just a tiny group of people having the problem and that it's a big deal to the Dev team, but this weekend is going to have a massive impact on the Xbox playerbase. Hopefully people will  come back after monday and see it working.

The training mode confused the hell out of me because I was able to play solo, so I didn't understand how it worked unless it's because I've bought all four campaigns way before the update, and because I am always online I forgot offline wasn't accessible anymore though I do agree with that being totally horse shit. I grew up with bad connect and have all the sympathy for others who have that issue and try to play online, and for those who just feel like soloing without no connection.

I don't know why I keep trying to make them not seem like EA. Maybe because they are the worst gaming company ever and I'm trying to throw MS a bone,  idk. I did think the lack of insiders was weird. I was expecting at least one more but I guess you're right about them trying to hiding unfavourable design choices.

Half of the original post was just  trying to get forums to cool off and be interesting and fun. This is like the third community I actually tried being apart of, but I'm aware of the current issues but lucky enough not to deal with them in full (mainly from a lack of understanding of how things worked).

I did recently get a understanding of the fact we have to wait 12 hours now to make any real progress with our characters which makes most missions not even worth playing for the 20th time, and do recognize the fact that BP still beinh a gamble is really stupid (even though I've been very lucky :P)

Defending  Mercury Steam and trying to give them some slack was bad timing on my part. I wanted to believe they didn't mess this one up like literally all the other major updates. I think I'll go with my other choice of finding a better game (think I'll play the devil may cry remakes) and take another hiatus from spacelords. I got 2 blueprints waiting to be made but I gotta grind for gold and I truly don't want to go through with that. It's too much and I got better games to play. I'm uninstalling.

Due to all the discussion on discord and having mod duties there, I have very little energy to even read let alone post here in the forums very much right now. But the last 2 days has been a total shitfest. People need to learn some chill.

There were some bad decisions with this update, but also good, and all some people focus on is the bad. Yet it's true that almost all of the changes came from US, the community. I had to go through and unpin a ton of suggestions that came straight from discord posts because they were added into the game with this patch.

It's funny how they listen to us, but because it doesn't fit 100% exactly how we thought it would right off the bat, people are already uninstalling and ragequitting after throwing around "retarded" and "stupid" at the game/devs. I'm shocked mercurysteam hasn't just ragequit on US with how much shit this community throws out.

It's only been 2 days. They are having to deal with more pressing issues than "it's hard to get blueprints right now" considering 1/3rd of their playerbase can't even play. Give them some time to work and breath, guys.
I don't like everything either but uninstalling because of the event system making blueprints hard to acquire when it's been 2 days is hilariously petty for players that have spent hundreds of hours on this game.
