Rain Of Fire possible bug

Scheneider's Rain Of Fire gun is automatically shooting when I place it down but haven't taken a shot yet, is this suppose to happen or is it a bug?

I feel like it's giving away its position when I'm playing The Antagonist by firing without me shooting and the Raiders know where to destroy it.

the timer remembers when it was last placed. So if you shoot with it and retract it immediately, it will shoot automatically when you next place
