Gameplay Feedback / Re: Feedback from a new player.
 on: January 07, 2020, 08:59:15 PM
You're probably gonna figure it out sooner or later. Forum-Users have a more pessimistic tone, discord has a more optimistic user-base.

I'll see most things as you see them.
2 Things: if you're quite weak compared to other raiders, help them with the objectives (carrying stuff, pushing buttons, protection 1-2 stations against egineers etc.)
If you have a map with those elite chargers, use different raiders. Push can break their charging up, Konstantin with Tolchok can be quite efficient, same as Loath with soup gun.

Spacelords’ Advice / Re: Tarasque F-750 build
 on: December 14, 2019, 01:17:23 PM
since tarrasque has high burst damage but slow (almost 2 sec.) reload, I highly recommend Professional (+60-100%) on stealth. Thus shoot, take cover, get bonus, shoot again.

What goes great with it, is the flight mod that takes away your aleph signature while flying. Forgot the name.

Gameplay Feedback / Re: Sööma is more than OverPowered
 on: October 15, 2019, 08:44:58 PM
Söömo is a great support on every mission, including antag. However it's not as bad as you say (in my opinion as a raider). Sööma herself is quite helpless, her damage do weak damage and her ability doesn't help herself.

If she doesn't use a special card, all you need to do is break 3 protections in fast succesion, and she's dead from her ability.

You could focus on her. You could shoot that guy in the head twice.

Antagging in general has become quite hard, I don't think that Sööma is so overpowered compared to other raiders.

What does surprise me is that the shield completely negates one shot, no matter how powerful. I thought it would take away the damage, and if it breaks, leave the rest for the raider. That could be looked at in a future patch.

The antag has the advantage of seeing the raiders chosen. I've had tough Loath antags when going as Sööma.

Gameplay Feedback / Re: Hive Feedback

thanks, the way I see it, it's because a year ago, CQC was the main way to kill. Due to mediocre bullet damage (dealt and received) and the way you got aleph and bullets, it was just the way was played.
I remember when I fell in love with the barrier weapon and Mikah in cqc.

Now you mostly don't need to go into melee, you shoot from afar because enemy bullets hurt, but they are mostly not very accurate at range. I even shoot 5th council instead of going into melee. (their pushback shotgun hurts like hell)

This seems to be the problem with most melee raiders. The problem was (it seems to me) that MSE wasn't aware that they passively nerfed CQC through unlimited ammo (and other things) so they thought that Hive needed another nerf as well.

I'm not sure that a better overheal would help all that much. I would suggest lowering the suck damage a bit (still better than the term impregnating) and having the old range back AND to keep sucking while overhealing.

Gameplay Feedback / Re: Please take a hard look at match scoring
 on: October 13, 2019, 09:26:50 AM
I mostly agree. The only part where I disagree, is that an antag is not really necessary for a high score.
However it is absolutely true that a high difficulty (without antag) generally lowers the score, as you kill fewer enemies, you die more often and it takes longer. The higher scores through difficulty never ever compensates this.
My highest scores are either with antag or with difficulty around 35 (+/-5). My difficulty when playing with friends was usually 45+, that's why it rarely helped with my high-scores (but it was fun nonetheless).

Another big issue is that you get punished for focusing on objectives and bosses. When playing destroyer of worlds and I see three raiders picking melee builds, I'm already disappointed. If I pick a melee-raider as well, to get lots of kills, all of us will get a lower score because it takes too long. If I pick a boss-killer, my score will be low-ish because I don't have time killing grunts.

Please count way more stats, for example "aleph used for objectives" and "overall damage dealt" as well as "damage prevented" (Sööma) and "hp healed  on others" (overheal not counting).

hey thanks for the insight.
I know that it's a hot topic, but I'd like to know more about difficulty balancing & mmr, if possible, including the effect antags have on difficulty. Please feel free to make it as technical & with formulas.

Gameplay Feedback / antag frustration
 on: October 09, 2019, 01:42:06 AM
good that you have both feedback and suggestion.
I'm now loosing for 15-20 games (winning 2-3 in between) dropping my mmr from 50 to 28.
I only play antag for that monthly score of 260, and I've got 9+ on most mission with raider mmr of 50.

And still, with mmr 28 as antag, I still feel like I have no chance at all:
antag mmr 32, raider mmr 36 = 30 diff
antag mmr 30, raider mmr 37 = 34 diff (very same team, next match)

When I run as Lycus, I get taken down by two shots from pretty much anyone while doing 10 damage at most with one shot 5m away.
As Hans with Usu and linear moment card, I can hardly wound a Kuzman with a whole magazine. Even if I wound him, I land and punch, he does his slow roll away and three raiders punch and grab at the same time.

As soon as I show up, I have 4 raiders running my way, doing insane damage at a distance.

Also raiders at mmr 37 are three purple tier 1 and one purple tier 2, playing as a premade team. As soon as I start ghosting as Doldren, they immediatly huddle together. When I was only 37 mmr raider, I hardly knew how to do a mission, let alone how to counter an antag.

Now about the times I've won:
One time, the connection lagged so much (host disconnecting?) I couldn't even choose my raider. Somehow got a weak team and killed them with hyperbole.
Second time, I used easter egg on medias res, so much, that they gave up. Same tactic I used with Shakura before the patch.
Third time, I thought I wasn't seeing right. I had four with mmr 50, some well known. Their mission difficulty was 80! I didn't survive 3 seconds and couldn't even kill a single raider. Somehow they managed to get to the second part of aneskas map until the grunts killed them. I still got a 10 even though they got pretty far.

fyi: I know that I'm very bad as antag. I know that and I enjoy being a raider. With mmr 50, I do alright I think. But that monthly score is motivating me to try the other side and so far it is frustrating as hell and I don't understand your mmr system at all. Loosing 20+ games in a row should not be normal, it is not fun dying all the time immediatly after spawning because it's 4vs1. Mobs are either non-existand and killed as soon as they spawn (there are no mobs to command) or in very rare cases they do all the work.

Spacelords’ Advice / Re: Beginner Question - Character Abilities
 on: October 09, 2019, 12:38:32 AM
a helpful hint, feel free to ask here or on discord about any new raider you unlock.
I was well over lvl 100 when I learned that you can retract Mikahs clone (you have to hold the same button you use to release the copy).

Some description are misleading, some are incomplete and some sound just wrong (hive impregnates every enemy ...).

Bug report & Technical Support / Re: Heavy Metal Bug?
 on: October 06, 2019, 08:39:05 PM
same bug, just wanted to add that for steam-users Alt+F4 should work fine to quit the game. No need to power down your laptop.

Suggestions / Re: Can we PLEASE get a buff to The Whip?
 on: October 03, 2019, 09:13:29 PM
I suggested it in another thread. Make the "leash" mechanic used for Shakura be used for the Whip. Whenever you press the special button Thomas comes towards you.
That way it's easy enough to shoot it short range. I would make the sparkles a bit longer as well. And a +10% damage buff would be good too.

Or let Thomas circle around you and with special button it changes direction. Would make it more useful as well. The portal would decide the radius of the circle then.

Gameplay Feedback / Re: Hive Nerf

as an antag, hive kicked our asses multiple times today on snake and mouse. Damn that plague.

Gameplay Feedback / Feedback of new update
 on: October 01, 2019, 08:41:27 AM
Since discord moves a bit fast for feedback, here is mine:

- Talent cards. I like the non-randomness. The point-cost and waiting times are fine. The gold cost to skip time is fine until a couple of hours. From 1800 to 250k. Please make a cap of 50k.

- Sööma catharsis. Good buff, now it's useful. Last vial seems better, but could need some more buffs. Please buff Aneska in a similar fashion or give her a cool new weapon.

- Hive debuffs. Why? I barely understand that plague got debuffed.

- Shakura & Whip. Whip still feels bad compared to other raiders. Shakura is weird, you nerfed it too much. The damage is very low and it mostly useful for melee. Having it be around you feels unuseful. However the "follow" aspect would have been a perfect fit for Whip.

- Aleph throwing and dropping. As an antag, I enjoy it immensely that they explode fast.

- Unlimited ammo. This feels like a big change. When I started Space lords, there was no dropping stuff. Elites had the aleph withing, and melee transferred it. From then you introduced and removed drops again.
Unlimited ammo changes a lot of things. Some cards that are still in the game are completely useless now. This makes this addition feel rushed. Some weapons/raiders are way better & easier to play than others. Balancing it out will take a lot of time.

Suggestion: make unlimited ammo temporary (and returning) like "unlimited-ammo-tuesday" and add "double-aleph-wednesday". This would make it a fun and changing game.

why shouldn't it exist anymore? The way I understand it, you still have a limited clip, just the supply after that is unlimited.
So the card is still very useful (for Granny for example) so that you don't need to reload as often.

To MSE: Showing unlimited ammo on Konstantin, one of the few without a clip, was perhaps not as useful to understand what "unlimited ammo" means.

I agree. I'm unable to play her properly. She lacks damage, when she's mobile she is defenseless. In my opinion, she needs a redo.
However I'm not sure, that there aren't people who can play her better than I do.

Gameplay Feedback / Re: My opinion on infinite ammo
 on: September 23, 2019, 09:08:10 AM
I'm a bit worried that weapons were balanced for limited ammo, and now they aren't balanced anymore.
On the other side, I welcome change since the game is getting a bit boring without it.
So MSE, keep the changes coming. Just be ready to either undo some changes (if they turn out to be a mistake) or to adjust weapons that become unbalanced.
