Ship's Log / Patch Notes 18.2
 on: November 21, 2019, 11:09:09 AM
Hello Raiders! This update is mainly about weapon balancing and character pricing, but we're also shipping a small change to how MMR impacts the damage formula. With the next big update we'll heavily reduce the impact of MMR, for now this is just a difficulty formula adjustment that's better off being released and tested on its own.

INDIVIDUAL DAMAGE FORMULA

Mission difficulty impacts many things in-game; AI speed and intelligence, mission configuration and the damage formula as well. With this new patch, when not playing against an Antagonist, the damage formula being used will depend on your MMR and not the mission difficulty (which in the case of games without an Antagonist, is just the average Raider MMR).

With this change we hope to stabilize your experience through different matches at least when it comes to the feeling when shooting at enemies. Sometimes you're matched above your MMR and sometimes you're matched below, but enemy health and damage should feel more stable now that matchmaking doesn't influence the damage formula.

CHARACTER PRICING

For a long time we've been softening the economy to include choices and alternatives where there weren't any. Time-based crafting and character trial are a couple examples. Many gold costs have been going down but character prices haven't, so we're taking the opportunity to tune them down in this minor patch before we introduce new economy systems in the next update.

- Decreased the price to recruit "group 2" Spacelords (Mikah, Ginebra, Doldren and Rak) from 90000 to 50000 gold
 - Decreased the price to recruit "group 3" Spacelords (Ayana, Loath, Iune and Schneider) from 180000 to 75000 gold

- Decreased the price to recruit "non-grouped" Spacelords (Valeria, Aneska and Sööma) from 180000 to 100000 gold

WEAPON BALANCE

- PATIENT BOY's mines no longer damages Doldren.

SHAE

- Increased SA-DHU's non-chaged shots damage (+15%)

IUNE

- Increased BLINK's damage (+10%)

- Decreased HYPERBEL's damage (-15%)

KONSTANTIN

- Decreased O.SHTORM BV's damage (-10%)

- Increqased HORNET HH3's damage (+15%)

VALERIA

- Decreased LITTLE GIRL's bullet damage (-15%)

AYANA

- Increased LEGACY's damage (+10%)

- Decreased MAKILIUM's damage (-15%)

- Decreased VERSATILE's damgage (-15%)

MIKAH

Ship's Log / Patch Notes 18.1
 on: October 24, 2019, 05:25:25 PM
Hi Raiders!

We are going to publish a new update on October 28th that will include some big changes in the Aleph's use. We will explain all the changes this Friday at 5 pm (GMT+2) in our Twitch channel with Laura Palomo and Hernán Ojuel.

Do you have any question for our devs? Tell us tagging #Spacelords in Twitter!

You can read all about the changes in the following lines:

ELITE SOLDIERS

Aleph-charged Sniper Elites offered an interesting gameplay based on the distance, but Assault and Officer Elites were simply activating their Aleph-based skills with no counterable options for the players. This was one of the reasons to restrict these Elite from spawning with Aleph charges.

This update brings a new way for both Assault and Officer Elites to activate their Aleph-based abilities, which also gives the players more choices when facing them than running away.

- Instead of consuming an Aleph Gem and activating their special melee immunity immediately, Assault Elite Soldiers now remain still for a while, charging the ability. In this state they are inmune to CQC, but they can receive shooter damage.

- This activation can be cancelled by getting the Elites down to wounded state, pushing them or dealing a specific amount of damage to them.

- Cancelled activations also prevent these Elites to consume their Aleph charge.

- Officer Elite Soldiers still become invulnerable when activating their ability, but now they deploy an Aleph Gem-fueled portable beacon on the ground in order to call the air strike.

- Once the air strkie begins the Elite Soldiers lose their invulnerability.

- Players are now be able to cancel the air strike by shooting the beacon down. If this happens, the Aleph charge will materialize as a pickable gem.

- The air strike also stops after several seconds. If this happens, the Aleph charge will be consumed.

- In order to make it easier to understand, FXs for the air strike attacks have been revamped.

- These Elite Soldiers now have to wait some time before they can use their abilities again.

Now that the Aleph-based skills activations can be countered by the players, all Elite Soldiers will have a mission-dependant chance of spawning with some Aleph charges.

AI MELEE DAMAGE REDUCTION

- Grunt's melee damage has been decreased by 28% (18/25)

- Elite Assault's melee damage has been increased by 7% (30/28)

- Elite Officer's melee damage has been decreased by 14% (24/28)

- Elite Sniper's melee damage has been decreased by 28% (20/28)

FX

- Removed explosion FX from the Officer Elite Soldiers' bullet hits.

WEAPONS

SHAE

- Sa-Dhu's capacity of removing pressure by shooting now only works when the bullet hits an enemy.

SOOMA

- Added a new FX to emphasize the energy-absorbing capacity of Catharsis' charge mode shots.

CARDS

LOCALS

- Vendetta card has been removed from the game because it's activation condition referred the deprecated ammo system. Some local's cards have been restructured in the graph as a consequence.

Ship's Log / New "Algia Initiated" Skin for Sööma
 on: October 18, 2019, 12:19:49 PM
It's already available on Spacelords!

The "Bitter Pilgrimage" is one of the most extreme initiation rituals known in the Algia Creed. The follower who faces it must survive for 687 days in the Martian desert of Lockyer. Hunger, thirst and sand storms harden their body against pain. Loneliness and helplessness harden their spirit against discouragement. If the follower survives without going mad, they are considered worthy of belonging to the inner circle of the Creed, where their true Algia training begins.

Ship's Log / Today behind the Broken Planet… the Cortez brothers
 on: October 11, 2019, 06:05:43 PM
The Cortez Brothers are well known as the Raiders’ mates, helping them out all around the Broken Planet.

Today we are going to talk about why they matter and why we love them so much.

As the Continuous Version Verification System generates a validated build of the game, Cortez Brothers put their development hat on, and start playing.  Mission after mission, level after level, Huey, Lewie and Dewie verify everything works fine.

This allows the Quality Assurance team to focus on the creative part of the testing leaving repetitive tests to automation.

Every day +3k games are played by the Cortez, improving the stability of the patches by finding all kind of crashes and bugs early.

Generated data is stored and analysed by the development team which can, for example, allow to reproduce AI errors, detected in the automated games, in order to identify and fix them before a new patch goes live.

See you on the Broken Planet!

Ship's Log / Heavy Metal! Spacelords New Update
 on: September 30, 2019, 04:51:56 PM

Watch the new trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RJtiPlzB5Y

MercurySteam launch today ‘Heavy Metal’, the new game update for its Free to Play 4v1 shooter Spacelords, available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows 10 and PC Steam. This much awaited update is designed to increase the weapon customization options for all players.

The new Forge System allows players to build up to five different versions of the same weapon with parts obtained during matches. This new system allows much more freedom for the players to build a weapon that suits their playing style. The classic Spacelords’ Blueprints will remain as special prizes, having become more powerful to reflect their new high-ranking status.

But the Heavy Metal update introduces another important change: the Talent System. This new Talent tree will further emphasize the player’s control over the way his character plays. The new update will also introduce new and exciting gameplay options, like the ability to throw Aleph blasts to your enemies.

“The ‘Heavy Metal’ update is all about giving players more power and flexibility,” commented Enric Álvarez, Game Director. “With the plethora of new opportunities offered by the revamped Forge System and the new Talent tree, no two players will ever field the same Spacelord again.”

Ship's Log / Pheromone - New Weapon for Rak
 on: August 14, 2019, 10:55:07 AM

Pishachas love Mysticeti's blood so much that just the smell of it sends them into a frenzy. That's why Rak soaked some shutgun cartridges with blood, which impregnates enemies when he shoot them. The surprise came when Rak, testing the weapon, smelled the impregnated blood and went into the same frenzy as his pishachas. Try Rak's new weapon now!

Ship's Log / Spacelords Roadmap
 on: September 20, 2018, 05:18:10 PM

Celebrating one year since Raiders of the Broken Planet launched, and a month after its rebirth as a Free to Play game, Spacelords continues to grow with over 400.000 games played in the last 30 days and a player base more than 10 times larger.

“We are very pleased with the game’s performance since Spacelords’ launched on August 23,” comments Enric Álvarez, Game Director. “We see many new players discovering Spacelords for the first time every day, and this roadmap is our way to thank all the community for their support and show our continuing commitment to the game.”

This roadmap includes four key upcoming main milestones, each marking major changes to the game. Between each of these milestone, MercurySteam will continue to release regular new content at a steady pace in the form of game updates, new skins, weapons and characters.

Space Guilds
The first major Spacelords’ milestone will allow players to create and customize their own Space Guilds within the game, with full cross platform implementation* and expanded communication options. Aspiring Spacelords can team up, design their own Guild banner with the new in game editor and coordinate their games together in preparation for the conflict to come.

Spacelords Identity
With the arrival of the new in-game store, players will now have countless more options for customizing their characters, with new outfits, exclusive weapon customizations, emotes to express in game and even new fighting styles, melee weapons and finishing moves.

The Great Clash
With the Space Guilds now fighting to control the Aleph resources, the stakes will be raised much higher when they compete to show who’s the best! Guilds will endeavor to leave their mark on the Broken Planet, obtaining the best scores and literally planting their banner on the missions they master for all to see. This isn’t a battle anymore, but a War!

The Aurora Specters
Spacelords thrilling 4 v 1 gameplay will be further boosted with the arrival of the Aurora Specters, daemonic entities whose eldritch powers are only rivalled by their thirst for the Raiders’ blood. Something wicked this way comes…

Spacelords is available now as a new and exciting Free to Play gaming experience for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam and Windows10. MercurySteam will continue to steadily add new content, including characters, weapons and skins in the following months.

Ship's Log / Spacelords Update 10.4 Patchnotes
 on: September 20, 2018, 12:28:51 PM
Although we are still not ready to release our next client-side update, that will be loaded with bug fixes and technical improvements that require some extra testing, today we're releasing some economy and progression changes to Spacelods.

REWARDS

The number of Common Blueprints showing up as rewards is not meeting our expectations, most specially at high levels. Also, there are some undesired slowdowns of Gold and Faction Points income in some specific Tiers that we’ve addressed.
- Common Blueprint appearance rate increased by 5% at the lowest Tier to 50% at the highest Tier.
- Very High Gold prize appearance rate increased by 10% at Tier 5
- Very High Faction Points prize appearance rate increased by 20% at Tier 3
- Very High Gold prize appearance rate increased by 15% at Tier 2
- Very High Faction Points prize appearance rate increased by 45% at Tier 2

LEVEL REQUERIMENTS

Level requirements sometimes limit user choice unnecessarily, we've loosened up some of them. Most specially, we don't want Raider choice to spread out through too many levels.
- Decreased mission level requirements from 14/22/32/45/55/64/78/89/98 to 9/14/21/31/42/54/68/83/97
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Doldren from 42 to 41.
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Loaht from 47 to 44.
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Rak from 52 to 48.
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Ayana 57 to 52.
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Iune from 61 to 55.
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Valeria from 66 to 57.
- Decreased level requirement to recruit Schneider from 70 to 59.
- Increased level requirements to draw Faction Cards from 4/7/9/13 to 4/7/12/15
- Decreased level requirements for Faction Card groups 4-6 from 46/62/105 A 38/63/92
- Increased level requirements to draw Character Cards from 15/17/19 to 17/19/22
- Decreased level requirements for Character Card groups 3-6 from 38/51/85/121 to 33/50/72/105
- Level requirements for Forge levels 3-12 have been adjusted accordingly: 12/24/34/44/54/65/76/87/97/107 to 13/24/35/46/56/66/76/87/98/108

Ship's Log / Xbox One/Steam Cross-Network enabled
 on: January 24, 2018, 06:30:56 PM
Raiders of the Broken Planet is now updated to V.07, and it introduces a new cross-network functionality that effectively allows to match Xbox One and Steam users together in the same game. This will effectively increase the number of concurrent players and reduce the queuing times, specially taking in consideration the new Mission of the Week feature introduced today.

Please, let us know what you think of these new measures. They are but an initial step towards the major progression update the design team is working on.
Thanks all for your support and see you at the Broken Planet!
