Gameplay Feedback / Patch Notes 21
 on: September 16, 2020, 09:24:12 PM
This is a good patch guys!!! A lot of the toxic and overtuned weapons were addressed. (-10% on K&K wasn't enough IMO, but it was a step in the right direction). And Tolchock needs to have it's push detection range lessened.

These weapons have been a pain for a long time. I didn't want to miss the chance to show appreciation. So often we complain, but we need to show appreciation when positive changes happen.

THANK YOU for these changes.

Side note (while I got your attention): I know you just got through with the patch but I have a request to look at Javelin. It is only good at far range, but cannot head shot and can only wound. since it's far you cannot follow up on a kill on a wounded player since they just hide and heal. Even with rare Power Injector you can't get to them in time before you can finish them off. They heal by the time you get there and that close your Jav is too weak. Maybe remove the distance gimmick or remove tension build up. As it is now it's just a weapon to feed allies KP, you really get none yourself.

Suggestions / JK5, Last Wish and K&K
 on: February 24, 2020, 07:26:18 AM
Something has to be done about this weapon please. No brainer, no skill crutch in the game that carries people. I am not sure MSE why you want a fully automatic sniper rifle in the game that kills players in mere fractions of a second and unlike Harecs weapons which AT LEAST take skill and have one bullet this one sprays several that have high damage output at targets. It is a really broken game.

You say you want raiders to clime the ladder of MMR but when you FAIL to balance out broken weapons like JK5, Last Wish and K&K many people rather just keep MMR low to AT LEASt have the AI advantage over your broken overtuned guns. Until these weapons get put inline with the rest of the roster I will have no shame keeping MMR low nor will I have any sympathies for antags at all.

Fix you weapons.

Suggestions / Kill Points the Second Tier PvP
 on: February 19, 2020, 04:44:12 AM
Kill Points have become a second tier PvP between Raiders. I find that my own "allies" are now my enemies. Not only do I have to fight the antag I also have to fight with other Raiders, they NO LONGER feel like my allies and I just get angry with them for interfering with my progression (it was bad enough that the antag could hinder progress, but no other raiders?). Kill Points have caused very greedy and toxic behavior at worst and neglectful desperate behavior at worst. KP are TOO valuable as it cost 1000 for a crappy RNG roll or 3200 for a better RNG roll. Unless you are creating farming squads, which is sad that we are forced to, you simply do not get KP in enough quantity to compensate for the RNG.

1. Raiders ignore objective to farm KP, I know I have. The boss gives no KP, filling aleph to generators or extractors give no KP, killing miners give no KP, etc... so there is no incentive to do these objectives. It would be nice if the objectives gave KP. Or just rename the KP to some other form of currency and put AI kills, player kills, objectives and bosses in the same barrel.

2. There needs to be assists with KP. If you helped killing a grunt but did not get the killing blow it should give you 5. And 15 for Elites and 25 for enemy players respectively. This should also count if an antag does damage to a player and a grunt or elite finishes the player. I've seen a lot of Antags get their KP stolen from their "ally" AI. Boss KP should be split up by how much damage Raiders did, perhaps giving the KP in proportion to % of damage or ranking them from 1st to 4th place and giving set amounts for each place or giving the one who did the most a large portion and everyone else a set amount. This includes bosses like Kuzzman, Valeria, Orb Guardians, Kuzzman Crab, Schneider Mech, etc... They should perhaps five a total of 100 split up in the above systems. Big bosses maybe the same. Although the %th Council could be broken up into brains giving KP, who knows.

3. Objectives like injecting aleph into mission objectives (extractor, engines, etc...), and flipping the switches on En Medias Res should give maybe 15 to 30. And objectives like how many computers Schneider hacks and other more vague yet important objectives that everyone contributes to should give everyone aleph.

4. Miners should give 5 KP and their mines perhaps 1 or 2. Otherwise no one kills miners or shoots mines. Same with tentacles, maybe 10 so people actually go after them. Beholders and other mini bosses should give KP. Probably 30 or base it on who did the most damage and have them shared at about 50 to 80 points total.

What I find myself and others doing because KP are tied only to grunts, elites and players and also because there is no assists KP is that people steal kills. Also people let elites kill allies or at least do not help them fight enemies because they will get the kill stolen. I have had so many times where I have sniped with Shae or Javelin only to wound the enemy and one of the competing jerks on my team swoop in and finish them. This means I don't bother killing enemies as a sniper near my allies if I know I can't one shot them. People just let the invincible elite charge and pound their ally just so they can get the KP instead. And this sucks that this is even a thing.

The final thing I'd like to add is that now that KP have been added to the game it has further reduced what weapons are optimal and what characters are any good for KP. If you use a weapon, say Javelin for example, that is good for killing the boss you are gimping your KP DRASTICALLY because there are no assist and there are no KP for bosses. There is no reason to bring weapons or characters that are good in other ways than gaining KP. You simply slow your advanced mod progress to a slow grind or a halt if you use ANY other weapons or characters than the prescribed meta of rapid kill farming. This is BORING to have to use ONLY a few characters and weapons because you will be punished by the system for using anyone else by way of KP. If some of the systems above were implemented like boss damage KP, Miners, and ASSISTS then it wouldn't be an issue. you could also use weapons you think are fun to use, not merely what kills grunts the fastest.

Ok, I am done with the rant. Please consider changing, OR REMOVING, the KP system. It's boring playing a few characters ad a few weapons. I also hate being enemies with my allies.

Thanks!

Suggestions / Javelin needs Buff
 on: February 17, 2020, 02:38:40 AM
Can we buff Javelin please? This gun literally does minimal damage up close and so it only does more damage far range, but even at that it only wounds them. Even with Toxic all that have to do is roll. And if you run up to them that is your death wish as they will just meld your weak 60 health, no armor cougar form as you SLLLLLLOOOOWLY transform to normal. So we can clearly see that it is not made to be a follow up on wound weapon. It cannot kill anyone only wound. It only does any damage at range. So it is really quite weak. Those of us who don't want to use all of Ginebra's "gimmicky" weapons and want a straight forward weapon have only one of the worst weapons in the game to use.

This is coming from a time when we have such GLARINGLY overpowered weapons right now like JK5, K&K and Last Wish and somehow Jav is as impotent as it is.

Please consider making Jav a viable weapon against players. Killing bosses is not really a major need in today's meta. It's the ONLY weapon she has where we don't have to play pool and/or rely on the environment to deal any damage. I don't see Mikah, Doldren, or Iune having to rely on the environment to do damage.

Suggestions / Level Up Screen
 on: February 17, 2020, 01:01:06 AM
Hello MSE,

The level up screen when you complete a match is opaque again. You guys changed it to a more see through rewards screen so we could see the animation of the characters when they leveled up fully. As it is now, they are once again covered up and we only see a small portion of the beginning. Could you guys revert it back to a less opaque rewards screen? It's a shame to miss out on the artwork and skill of the animators.

THANKS!

Gameplay Feedback / K&K
 on: February 08, 2020, 02:11:04 AM
Please put a goddamn muzzle on that weapon and nerf it already. You have a 140 health opponent with more fire power than most of the characters in the game. At least with the Locals they sacrifice health for that damage they do and you can theoretically kill them quick enough. But at 140 health very few people can damage her faster than she damages you.

You devs need to play more. Apprently you have never been shot at in game by the weapons you design.

Suggestions / Reasons for Optional PvP
 on: August 13, 2019, 09:57:31 AM
These are the reasons I feel the game should allow optional PvP:
1. Meta slave: You either play the characters you enjoy and if those characters you find fun aren't the ordained mete characters specifically tailored to that mission you will be at a disadvantage with an antag. So you really have fun if you happen to like one of the lower tier characters. You just have to play the same characters for certain missions because you never know when you'll get invaded.

2. MMR and match making. New players get shit on all the time by antags. And with Sudden Death there really isn't anything a higher level player can do if the antag chooses to just pick apart lower level players until they use up all your lives. I've been in so many games where I didn't die at all to antag but they won anyways. This feels horrible. This is really no fun at all. And frankly I don't want this game to be a baby sitting simulator.

3. Many people just don't like the PvP, at least not in its current state. If there is a few weapons that are overpowered, if the game balance is wrong, if there are certain characters that are just broken and MSE hasn't caught on yet then why should people have to suffer through these mistakes and oversights? If they had the option to PvP then they could choose to avoid it if it's currently not to their liking. Or they can, you know, stop playing? I'm sure that would be better for the game. At least if they can choose you still keep the players playing.

4. It's simply not rewarding for the Raiders. I could care less what rewards the antag gets, they CHOSE to invade others missions. You cannot fel sorry for them on principal. But Raiders really lose out when they get invaded. You DO NOT get more rewards for getting invaded. And you would have progressed much better without an invasion. If you win as a raider you are getting nothing more than you would have gotten anyways. Seems a waste of time for us.

5. It's not true PvP. Simply put, there is passive stats and forge levels. This means there will always bee a shadow of doubt as to why you lost or won. If your opponent was a tier 6 and you were a tier 1 then it;s obvious why you won and, at the very least, what contributed towards that win and that was passives and forge level. In if the inverse were true you would know that you were beaten because your opponent had more at their disposal to use against you. And saying they were more skilled is even worse. Sure give a skilled player even MORE inherent circumstantial advantage, that make it more fair? TRUE PvP has opponents who adhere to the same level of power.

6. Let players enjoy the game with their friends how they wish. Many people like PvP. And those people should play PvP together. Nothing wrong with that. Other people, however, despise it and would rather avoid it because they simply do not enjoy it. It has nothing to do with win lose. Some people may feel they don't want to take part in robbing others of their rewards. They don't want to feel they've wasted their time or to waste another persons time and progress. Not everyone enjoys it. Some people are peaceful minded people who just want to relax and have fun with friends and don't find griefing others fun.

7. Hasn't it been long enough? I mean, the game is going through a bit of turmoil right now with a lot of changes that not everyone likes. I doubt it could do all that much harm to have the option at this point. I mean, has the mandated model been working out so far?

Gameplay Feedback / Lower MMR Difficulty
 on: August 03, 2019, 07:31:10 AM
You have WAY too many spawns at lower MMRs. I had 5 missions in a row that wwre absolutely no fun at and they were all in the 30% range. TOO many grunts, TOO many elites, TOO much health for low MMR and TOO much damage for low MMR. I notice it doesn't adjust these values much when an antag is present. The matches are 30 minutes or longer. And the rewards are not worth that long of a game and with no entertainment value at that.

PLEASE do something about your MMR difficulty. I am forced to lower MMR even further than usual now just to enjoy myself as a Raider. Keep in mind I don't active antag and have a clean reputation of never fighting against raiders when I lower MMR and so I am not one of those antags who lower MMR to have an easy time against Raiders.

But this is a HUGE problem. I had THE WORST time playing this same that I've had in a LONG time. I find it hard to say good things about this game or to even log on after todays horrid experience.

I'm not sure what you guys are trying to do exactly with this game and what the purpose of these changes was but it feels REAL bad.

Suggestions / Reverting Cougar Form...
 on: July 25, 2019, 04:44:39 AM
Since the reason Ginebra's cougar form got nerfed is now gone due to the erroneous Survive limited life mode (Team up or Die), can we now revert it to it's former glory? The issues that made it strong are now gone; (i.e. running away in survive mode). The nerfs to it are now unmerited. At least bring back the stealth or speed, if not the health and armor.

Español (foro general) / Spammer Alert!

AlberttoEcoca is spamming the forums with adds.

(Why do they do this? Who actually think this kind of adverts work? Who actually looks at their adds?)

Suggestions / Shakura
 on: June 01, 2019, 10:51:19 AM
Make it use ammo each time it changed direction. Lower the range of it's lightning arcs. Or lower the damage significantly. Any one of these would be a great help let alone more than one.

It's a bit absurd that players can just spam it with no cost for eternity.

Spacelords Universe / Level Up Screen Transparency
 on: May 12, 2019, 06:42:13 PM
I can see Doldren snicker now!!!

Don't think I didn't notice! Thank you MSE, I can see the level up animations of ALL the characters now. Their full personalities and the creative talent that went into them.

I've been active on both in recent times. Not so much in the beginning, I was only active here. I made an account on Discord for the first time for this game. The communities in both places are VASTLY different.

Here on the official website forums, and as well as the Steam site for this game, there are a lot more people, not frequent, not 24/7 but Steam and Spacelords website see a lot more traffic of new player feedback, old players and everything in between. Obviously because of the nature of a forum it isn't an "active" thing like discord. but I noticed Discord has a small vocal minority because a certain kind of player has claimed it as their own.

Antagonists players. This causes a lot of new players and old school players who are primarily PvEers/Raiders to stay AWAY from Discord. there is hundreds of posts across Steam and this website with concerns regarding PvP, it being balanced, the fact that it's forced when there is such a good Coop PvE game here and yet the Discord opperates in a small echo chamber and discredits the overwhelming amount of criticisms on Steam and from these forums, or they flat out ignore it. And I feel this will hurt MSE in the long run.

I would encourage MSE to please look to their Steam Reviews and the feedback HERE on this website as it represents a larger amount of player feedback and to realize that Discord is a click of a minority of, let's just say, forward personalities to be kind, as they are highly dismissive of the larger issues Steam and the Forums are pointing out. I would encourage MSE to not let a loud majority hijack the fate of the game by alienating the silent majority that usually post here and on Steam.

The main point of contention I have seen for a while now is PvP. Outside of Discord players are asking for more balance at the very least and at the most to make two seperate modes, one for PvPers and the other for PvEers so that PvEers could play in peace and not be bothered by Antagonists who will ruin their fun and progress. Any PvEers who attempts to enter this wolves den are quickly ostracized, shit down, memes fly up all over the place about dead horses and "this again" even though THEY are the minority and there is an ARMY is disgruntled players regarding PvP. There are still some decent people there on Discord of course, but even they are PvPers or pro PvP. The pure numbers of Discord members that are active there are still way lower than the  history of Steam and Spacelords sire members.

I honestly feel like there is only certain opinions that are "allowed" there. And so I am slowly being pushed out of the den of Antags that is discord. The problem is I will have to eventually go the way so many other loyal players have and be pushed out of the game by antags and pro PvP centric players. I have 700+ levels, and two thousand+ hours on this game. And it would be sad to leave and make a new feedback post on Steam and Here in regards to my experience with the game and why I left. I don't want this to happen. So...

Again, I would encourage MSE to not have tunnel vision on the Discord and to realize that beyond the blinder are fields of other players mostly new and middling and some old. And to please be careful for a small minority who is making a lot of racket. You may find that what they say and stand for is very different from the vast majority of players who aren't part of that "clique". You have to decide what is best for the longevity of the game and what will ensure new players come AND stay and not uninstall and runoff to Steam or here to leave their feedback.

Thanks!

Suggestions / The state of Ignis and Harec
 on: April 11, 2019, 06:29:56 AM
So there has been a high level of win rates and success with Harec lately, mostly due to his Rare weapon Ignis, coupled with his ability to stalk with no minimum cool down and a card called Firmness.

First we should talk about the weapon. This sniper can, like all snipers, head shot from near infinite distance relative to map sizes. Now this by itself isn't a big deal. Traditionally sniper rifles reward power to those who have patience, aim and timing. Vindicta Anima, Aura Mortis, Ferox Impetus and Easter Egg (in it's sniper fire) all have this balance. The trade off for one shot power is waiting for a charge and in most cases aiming for the head. The stronger the power the longer the charge, naturally, it's about balance. This is done I imagine sothat we don't have a spammable one shot weapon. You will notice as the charge gets shorter the power gets weaker, this is, again the balance. Ignis Fugit breaks this rule, and thus breaks the balance.

Ignis has a VERY short charge up and while being the weakest out of his sniper rifles, it makes up for it by chargeing fast. When they changed Ignis to have an alternate fire with automatic crit bullets this effectively made an Aura Mortis with a short charge up. This means you no longer have to head shot, you could shoot someone toe or graze their elbow and it would, at the very least, put them in wound state. This can EASILY be followed up by another FAST shot or if they are lucky enough to find cover Harec merely needs to stalk to a new position and finish them off before they can ever get up again. This weapon by itself breaks the balance of this game in a lot of ways.

Keep in mind the other characters and their weapons. Ignis has infinite range, the highest damage, fast firing, and can crit on demand. You would think that other weapons would be balanced in a similar manner. But they're no where as good, but this isn't the only reason Ignis is a problem, it's also in combination with Harec's ability, which is also the best special in the game right now. The solution would be to simply take away crit bullets because it currently outshines it's counterpart rifles and gives no incentive to use them if you can use Ignis and do all the same things and more. There has to be a payoff to using Aura Mortis, it takes longer to fire and does more damage, but Ignis marginalizes this and kind of breaks the balance of the weapons right now.

Stalk, this allows you to fly to most surfaces on the map on the x, y, z axis. when you stalk you are immune to damage and untargetable. Ony when you land on a surface are you targetable. The distance you can stalk is considerably far to. This sound ok so far, but here is where it becomes a problem. When you stalk there is no cool down if you don't stay long enough. You can spam stalk. Coupled with Ignis and it's fast fire you see where this gets abused and has very little counterplay. Two things would make this a more reasonable special that falls in line with the rest of the cast. A) Give it a minimum cool down, say 2 or 3 seconds. This would allow him to have to be more selective of his stalking and allow counterplay when he kills someone and has to come back. Or B) Have him have a minimum time he has to stick to a wall. This is is less favored by me, but if he did kill someone the victims allies could retaliate before he stalks away. Either way, either of these would allow counterplay and less stalk spam, which in my opinion, is very skill less and unfair to opponents. Currently in the game right now it's a headache as you have to work much harder and have quite a bit of luck in order to deal with Harec and Ignis more so than ANY other character in the game.

Finally we have the Firmness card which essentially ignores 60 damage. This means when he stalks and you are skilled enough to shoot him first, it doesn't matter, he ignores the damage and head shots you, or at the least, escapes. Again, this allows for no counterplay at all. As a player facing off against Harec you AREN'T rewarded for shooting him first in Stalk and so are head shot by him all the same.

I'm not sure if a combination nerf to all three of these aspects would be good or just a focused one on a single. But I feel something seriously needs to be done because the combination of these three, with a heavy emphasis on the weapon itself, is creating a new power meta right now where this is the new unstoppable character/weapon combination.

MSE, if you have access to the data please review Ignis Harec pick rate and, most of all, win rate. From the limited perspective of what I have seen, personally or through many videos from many different Harec players, it's clear to me that victory is weighted heavy in this weapons favor.

Spacelords Assemble / Bring your voice to Discord...
 on: January 20, 2019, 02:15:43 AM
There are a lot of you who I have known who have had a lot of the same view of PvP/PvE as I have. But I don't see any of you on Discord. Discord at the moment is a Antagonists echochamber. We could really use more differeing opinions to bring on a more diverse group there instead of the "mob" of the single minded that it is now. If you even THINK to bring up something that is wrong then you generally get ostrasezed by the "cool kids" club.

If me and the occasional ArboldCat weren't the only ones there it would break the High School lunchroom that is Discord up a bit.
