Hi.

I played the game last year for 2 months when it was re-branded as "Spacelords"
I've stopped playing it for frustration reasons.
I've re-launched the game recently (so, after a 6 months break) to see how it has evolved.
After 2 weeks, here's my feedback.

1- Antagonist mode: still forced ... and still broken
- High antags on mentor matches are still a thing (a really fun one for MSE, I would assume)
- Even when winning a mission with an antag, the rewards are far too low for the lost time and highest difficulty
- I'm still for a complete switch so players can choose if they want it or not.
(And I haven't changed about NOT spending any more money on this game until this switch is added)
- By default, it should be turned off for mentor matches.
- Forcing players to play a game mode they don't like is a bad design
(and yes, here it is a game mode, since you can play solo or PvE)
And I can see that the future is darkening on this end with the mission score "forcing" you to play both sides on each mission for better reward ...
As a reminder, Fortnite and Warframe, for examples, have both PvE and PvP but they are separate game modes and you can "choose" to play 1 or both but are NEVER forced to do so ...

2- Mentor matches
Only change I see is that MSE removed the text telling me it's going to be a mentor match so now, I only know it once it's too late and I can't refuse it.
(again, really fun when wanting a high score for a daily reward with 3 new players)
- I would also like a switch to turn them off while I do my dailies, at least, since the grind is high and I (still) need a high score to progress.

3- Forge: still frustrating.
I (still) don't want to spend 30 to 80k gold to build a weapon just to try it out: I may not like it and I would have wasted a lot for it...
I'm (still) hoping for being able to choose at which level I build my weapons: if I'm forge lvl 10, I should be able to build from lvl 1 to 10.
So I would first build a new weapon at forge lvl 1 or 2, for instance, to test it and if I like it, I may upgrade it to a higher lvl (8 or 10 depending on the gold)

4- Solo mode still badly designed
- Needing to win a mission 5 times to play it solo is dumb.
- I would like to play solo from time to time just to play at my pace, while earning the same rewards as in public
I'm NOT talking about the quantity, but the type: I should be able to win small in solo, more in public PvE, and even more in public 4v1

On the "added features" side of things:

- 1 character has been added: Aneska
She seems very nice (don't have her) but I trust MSE on the character and weapon design, which overall are great in this game

- Spaceguilds: kind of "meh".
I've joined one to see, but it doesn't bring anything I did not have on Xbox live (friends list, chat, ...)
I can even see how it's a bad idea: with how the game currently works, if you're in a guild with non trolling players who never play as antagonists (;p) your bonus XP will decrease so, at one point, I think I will leave my guild when the bonus XP is lower than the current tier I'm in.

- Duplicate blueprints giving gold
That took time but at least MSE did it, so very nice!

So, overall, my feelings haven't changed in 6 months:
- Frustrations points are still the same ones (mainly antag mode and mentor matches)
- The friends I played the game with, stopped playing the game around the same time I did, so I'm only playing in public matches
- Matchmaking can take a looonnnnggggg time
- The grind still "feels" a bit too much seeing the content hasn't changed in 6 months
(Every game is repetitive but since the maps are not procedurally generated and none has been added ...)
(In the same time frame, Warframe added a huge open zone, as well as new characters, weapons, game modes, ...)

So I'm still very sad for this game because I would like to play it more but I'm sure I'm going to quit it again at some point in some weeks, maybe months because nothing important has changed in 6 months, so I don't think it will.

Hoping I will be proven wrong be MSE ...

Gameplay Feedback / The new users experience feel really really bad
 on: September 10, 2018, 03:12:20 PM
Hi.

When Raiders of the broken planet (RotBP) launched last year, I didn't bought any campaign because I wasn't happy with the game as it was but kept an eye on it because the universe, lore and characters were very nice.
After each update I re-launched it to see, tested the "mission for a week" feature and this kind of stuff.

So, when Spacelords came out, I was already level 6 and had the Alien myth campaign unlocked, so I didn't really know how was the Spacelords' new player experience.

But this WE, I played with a friend whom had never played it ... and it was not good for him.

For new comers who don't know, the beginners experience on RotBP was that you first played a solo mission as Harec to introduce you to the game controls (movement, cover system, shooting) and mechanics (strike / grapple / dodge, munitions, Aleph, Elites).

After this first mission, you played your first multiplayer mission which was (and still is) "Hanging by a thread", which again, was nice because not too hard, mechanics come one at a time (1st zone with just engineers and turrets, 2nd zone show how to organize your group, 3rd and final zone, has Aleph retrieval + shield Elites + engineers + extraction)

This was all for "free" players as you had to pay for campaigns at that time, the first being "Alien Myth", then Umbra, Hades and the last one being the Council one.

It was quite good because you could learn slowly with a solo mission, and then, a multiplayer one but not really hard.
The only problem I see was playing Harec (he's a very good character, but not to begin with) since he's a bit fragile, has a sniper rifle and his power takes time to understand.

Now, in Spacelords.
You must start with a quickplay session to define your first unlocked campaign, so you don't start by the first mission...
Every other menu is locked.

I didn't know that, so we played with my friend "A low blow".
First: this mission is hard, especially when you just start.
You don't know anything about the game, but are thrown in a very aggressive arena with all 3 types of Elites (shield, mortar and snipers), engineers, and timed sections.
Seriously ??

And then, I understood that my friend had unlocked the 3rd campaign this way.
I'm level 60 and so I don't even have all that campaign missions unlocked.
(because, as a weirdo, I unlocked the campaigns in their release order... strange, right ?!)

I find so many things wrong with this system and only understood at that point what a mentor match was.
It's not just with a low level, but someone who just started in quickplay it seems.

I really don't understand why Mercury Steam removed the solo mission, didn't choose to make new players start by the beginning with "Hanging by a thread" and then unlocked the campaign in their release order.
It would have made so much more sense from the story perspective and from the difficulty perspective!

And also a great idea from Mercury Steam: mentor match ... with an antagonist higher than anyone on the team!
Level 1, 8, 32 and 60 with an antag Doldren 71.
Pinned at spawn point and made the level 1 quit within five minutes.
Great job Mercury Steam!

A mentor match should NOT have an antagonist, just for players to get use to game mechanics first would be enough.

By the way: some players argument on this forum for not being able to have multiple times the same character is the "story driven" game.
Well, this argument is not even supported by the devs since you don't start by the 1st mission and then, can unlock the 4th campaign, then the 2nd, then the 3rd then the 1st ...
Yeah, a very "story driven" game indeed...

So, to conclude this very long topic, I would think that MS should really put back the solo mission, but with Hans for instance, as he's more balanced to start with (more life, weapon and power easy to understand, ...)
Then, players should play "Hanging by a thread" that, once completed, would unlock "Alien Myth", then Umbra, ... until Council campaign.

In this case, only "Hanging by a thread" would be a mentor match until it's won once, and without antagonist.

Currently, I will make other people quickplay until they get "In shock" to start closer from the story order, but really hope MS will change this.

Thank you for reading.

Edit: just a small add: I'm currently lvl 62 and around 65 hours of gameplay in Spacelords

Hi.

Yesterday, I got the patch and saw that forge prices for lower levels should have been (very slightly!) decreased.

But, for me, forge 6, the crafting cost is still 21K instead of the "new" 20K Gold.

Thanks

Edit: it changed after, so it may have been a refresh issue.

Hi.

- I was playing the mission where you fight Marmalade (last one from the Umbra Wardog campaign)
- Playing Alicia, in a public team
- It was the 2nd phase of the mission (1st part of the fight)

The "pig" has to load and when at 100%, you have to overload it with aleph.
During the overloading phase, when Marmalade is spitting fire in front of him, I was getting damage ticks at high frequence, like if I was standing in the flames ... when I wasn't.
I could go anywhere on the map, but I was still getting damaged and killed in a few seconds.

The team managed to win anyway but it was really annoying!

Thanks

Gameplay Feedback / Duplicated blueprints stacking ?
 on: September 05, 2018, 11:14:13 AM
Hi.

I've had several duplicated blueprints but since I haven't built weapons lately, and that there is no number attached to blueprints, I was wondering if they were stacking ?

I mean, if I build 1, will I still have a blueprint available after it ?

Thank you

Suggestions / [Cinema mode] Add every cutscenes + more options
 on: September 05, 2018, 10:37:25 AM
Hi.

For starters, I really like the cinema mode!

But some missions have several cutscenes ("A breath of hope" has 4!) that can't be seen in cinema mode so if you just watch the prologue + epilogue of a mission, there are story holes!

I would love to be able to see every cutscene of a mission in the mode.
(unlocked once you've completed the mission for instance, like the epilogue)

Also, if you could add a "play all for that mission", "play all for that campaign" and a "play all" options, it would be really great!

Thank you

Hi.

When I first tried Raiders of the broken planet, there was a tutorial mission you played solo with Harrec, to introduce the mechanics and world, which was really more welcoming than the current 2 online missions unlocked when you don't even understand the game you've just lauched
(saying this because a friend tried the game and was not really happy by his first impressions)

Thanks.

Suggestions / Adding color palettes
 on: September 04, 2018, 10:05:04 AM
Hi.

It would be nice to have color palettes to further customize the looks of our characters and skins.

Some palettes could be available ingame for gold / special events / daily rotation, and others would be for mercury points (around 500 each palette)

See Warframe for ideas ;)

Hi.

Yesterday was the second time I got a mission with a daily reward with 4 boosters 1.5.
This time (like the previous one), I completed the mission several times but never received the boosters

I don't know if it is a display bug or an unlocking bug, but I clearly don't feel I've played with boosters after this mission.

Thank you for reading.

Hi.

This week end, I completed the Umbra Wardog campaign, which was the first one I unlocked.

1 ) The first bug I encouter is that when finishing the last mission, I got the Xbox achievement for completing the campaign but once back in the menu, I couldn't unlock a new campaign as it told me to finish the current one.
In cinema mode, I didn't have either the closing video nor the epilogue available.

So I tried to complete to last mission a second time and I did.
This time, the video were there in cinema mode but I still couldn't unlock a new campaign.
I had to restart the game to unlock a new campaign.

2 ) The second bug I encounter is that the epilogue video is the same between alien myth and umbra wardog campaigns.
I tried to play them multiple times and they are still the same.
I don't know if the Umbra wardog campaign contains the wrong file or simply plays the wrong one, but for a player, the result is the same
.

Edit: my bad, the videos are not the same. The 2nd one includes the 1st one + a new scene.

Thank you for reading.

Gameplay Feedback / Pros and cons from a beginner on Xbox One
 on: September 25, 2017, 11:46:20 AM
Hi there.

A bit of context:
- I've been following this game since its announcement and really wanted to try it out.
- I love sci-fi co-op games (3000 hrs on Warframe) and thought this one would be like it.
- Free player for the moment (would love to buy the founders pack but definitely not in the current state)

** Pros:
- design
- really interesting lore and universe
- nice mechanics (shoot or combat)

** Cons:
- Needs a new game options : 4 co-op PvE (in addition to the existing Solo / 4v1 PvP)
--> and again, if no game can be found, I should be able to start a public one alone, or with just 1 other player or a full roster, not just wait until the 4 players lobby is full
- All game options should give the same rewards!
- Rewards should always be gold + points, and, maybe a blueprint (amounts would obviously depend on mission success)
- No reward should force you to play the antagonist!
- Every character can only be selected by one player, so you have to choose fast or play what's left (really nice to never be able to play the character you like...)

To detail a bit:
- currently, you're forced to play in 4v1 because solo doesn't reward anything after the first time, and only gives gold anyway.
But you can wait a really long time to play ... and end up in a game where raiders don't organize and lose after 10 minutes ...
I've quit the game a lot of times because I couldn't play and re-try later on ... to re-stop for same reason.

If I could play solo (and get rewards!), I would have done it instead of waiting for nothing on the matchmaking screen.
(maybe even have the possibility to play solo while looking for online game and be able to go in a public game and come back in solo mission after it ?)
- If players don't like PvP ... they're forced to play it anyway.

Personnaly, I will keep an eye on this game for a bit to see how the dev reacts but without a solo / 4 players PvE with same rewards, I won't buy the game, which is sad.

Thanks for reading.
