I'll have a second video up too soon and I guess I'll put moderation on or comments off...
Hahaha, rekt.

I'm not a programmer and I don't know how much work it would take to put a system like this in place but it needs it.
While some improvement to the MMR system would be helpful; I doubt they are going to scrap the system any time soon. My reasoning is that the big-wigs who really call the shots are far removed from the actual game play they develop.

For example, you are an employee who had a similar idea for a MMR change. You'd have to get the attention of a producer, a director and probably all of the department leads before you could even begin to make the proposal sound. And then you'd have to convince the CEO that it wasn't a huge waste of money.

They would ask you "Do we not already have a match making system?" and you would say "But, this one is more streamlined and fits our playerbase better." and finally, with a much more stern look while thumb and forefinger wrestle under chin, they would ask again "Do we not already have a match making system?"

you know whats crazy? they said the exact same stuff about guilds

mse: "oh this thing is so wild, it really is quite the thing but i can't tell you because it would ruin the surprise"
me: "oh my, it must be quite the thing I can't wait"
mse: "yes, well i would tell you but it is a very great and secret thing"
me: "well, i'll just wait for the guild update"
*guild update*
me: "can't wait for that great and secret thing!"
mse: "this is it, well not all of it, we didnt finish it in time but check out all the layers for emblems and the chatbox, pretty swank huh?"
me: "yeah..what about the flags?"
mse: "you didn't see them on the intro screen?"
me: "oh so thats that then"
mse: "listen, man, we can't be arsed to give you all the things you expect to get from our teasers and hyping, so just be fine with that for now because guess what! we are working on another great and secret thing"
me: "i don't know if i should trust you anymore"

...it's dealing with Hans and a dream he has about Wardogs. I will likely do them all as dream sequences...

there is an incredible laziness that comes from setting a story in a dream

take for instance the fact that you no longer have to use logic to incorporate other characters into the story since it is a dream, you don't need to worry about that tricky thing called writing

nothing of any consequence can happen in a dream and so when those things do happen they lose all meaning because it is a dream

it is browser based, so we know the graphics won't be good, it is fan made so we know you won't have the resources to create compelling gameplay mechanics and we know it is in a dream so we know the story and adventures don't matter even in their own context

you may shrug off the only person telling you the truth(this is a huge waste of your time) as toxic nonsense but if you can't handle even one random critic then why even bother telling us publicly that you're making a game?

because you think doing any random thing and saying spacelords will get the community to give you the attention you seek? or because you actually want to make a quality game and are looking for insight on how that would be accepted by the community?

if it is the latter then you should have posted screenshots a trailer and explained the basics of the playstyle you wish to incorporate

if it is the former then you would just present us with whatever half baked idea you momentarily had an epiphany about and thought it would be cool to post that stroke of genius for all of us here, which..hmm

telling people their critique is nonsense sounds more like you're sad that not everyone bowed down to slob your knob because youre making a browser based game based loosely off characters from someone else's game and i just..woah, get over yourself dude

it is a shit idea and you don't need any special credentials to see that

Hold up. I see a lot about recent changes effecting antagging since the last update. I didn't get a look at the most recent patchnotes, but is this an inference based on experience or was there actual documented nerfing? I am curious now.

got ya boo

I could read through everyone's posts but honestly will just end up agreeing most with Draco at this point.
very insightful and respectful to everyone involved

after going through a couple more antagonist matches today while counting my ai support i don't think i even got to 50 before one match was over also there is something very..insulting in the way elites are still totally braindead gibbons when I know for a fact that was a chief complaint 4-5 months ago

Antagonist still has its moments of fun and in those moments I am able to perceive a continuum of similar moments just out of reach because of the shortcomings which have recently been added to this mode and problems which have yet to be addressed after almost a year

I keep saying and will keep saying... more modes, more variety in how we play.

no, dude, that is absolutely the last thing they need. you have to build a solid foundation before you start adding on all the nooks and crannies and there are still some massively broken fundamental problems with the AI and the way difficulty is decided
Antagonist just gets staler and more trite and it's something I still go back to despite its many flaws because being a Raider is still boring...

...in the end, unless you hate Antagonist mode it is probably what you will end up playing because nothing else feels right after a thousand-ish hours of play and you will suffer!
just because one person has played the game for 1000 hours doesn't mean it is boring to everyone, get over yourself, get over this small achievement, because the game is being designed for people who will never reach 100 hours. those people will get bored much more quickly and many will probably not even make it to level 100. asking for changes to the game that the majority haven't even fully explored yet because your bored shows a level of self-preoccupation borderlining on narcissistic.

also, lorddraco's point, if I may be so bold, was not that playing this game for too long makes him bored. in fact, it is the opposite, it makes him incensed at the changes made to a game mode he has played quite a bit. it seems you do not agree with lorddraco and in all probability didn't even read HIS post.

these changes to the antagonist mode are definitely much more targeted at the lower level demographic over any other, because it makes it harder for the antagonist and easier for the raiders.

nothing speaks more loudly of the state of antagonists than the fact that friendly antag is still a thing that is done

thought they went to great lengths to fix that but apparently nothing has changed

you should turn on the game and be able to pick either raider or antagonist with a reasonable expectation that you'll have fun as either one

not turn it on just to play as a raider, eschewing 50% of the gameplay, because the other game mode is so terribly unbalanced that people will only use it to gain affinity for cards

why not just get rid of this cumbersome system? there really is no point behind locking cards behind antagonist affinity

i get that there is some high concept here of balancing your playstyle between antag and raider and some..very poor endgame where you find the best cards from each affinity, but in practice we get a lot of people playing as raider and then people throwing matches as friendly antag and the super small minority of players that antag seriously to win but get shit on by a group of raiders 30-40 levels below them because there is literally nothing to shoot except the antagonist

just seems like a big waste of time to me, especially considering how piss poor the rewards are for trying antag, you really would be better off not trying, like placelord, than putting effort into a system designed not to give one wet fuck, like lorddraco

Suggestions / Re: Can we have an Opt-Out of Mentor games?
 on: January 22, 2019, 11:44:14 AM
i think it would be asking a lot to get anything like what this thread is suggesting placed into the game

in fact, nothing anyone has suggested has ever for any reason made it into the game, it blows my mind that you all think the developers and producers of the game would totally switch up their time schedule to prioritize a new feature that a couple guys came up with on the forums

it just doesn't work like that, sorry dudes, no lead for any department is going to take the suggestions from a handful of fans and then risk their career on it

now take these crappy weapon reworks, useless radar and broken guild system and spend more money

Spacelords Universe / Re: Aneska Questions
 on: January 21, 2019, 10:14:53 AM
i feel like this stuff has all been answered to death

but this is what I have gathered

1. She cannot use her full power because it is the ship the Raiders are on that Aneska is trying to protect from the Raiders in Destroyer of Worlds. Krausher says it is more important than their lives, so I really doubt she would be authorized to go full Angel of Phobos. Which was only possible because she was on an enemy planet in enemy territory surrounded by the enemy.

3. Aneska is a logical choice. Basically an attractive female that drives a mech. Not really surprising that she is so popular, I mean it must be that because she really only has a few lines of dialogue and a pretty cookie-cutter personality from those few lines.

4. She is diehard loyal to Krausher. I think you missed the point of that story if you just focused on that slap. That slap was actually a very interesting moment of character building but everyone, much like yourself, just sees it as a damsel in distress type of thing rather than the narrative atmosphere it tries to instill. Which is the point. They are trying to show how tense things are for Hades, Hades being the weakest of the factions, while Hades try to gain some type of edge in the battle for the Broken Planet. Not trying to portray one of their most independent characters being a sulky little bitch cause they got slapped.

Like, she is very very loyal to Krausher. Her loyalty to Krausher is the ONLY reason she even stayed with Hades long enough to end up on the Broken Planet. She doesn't need the mech suit and was probably a badass soldier long before she ever started using it. She admires and respects Krausher a great deal. It also would not be the first time a Raider was able to converse with a long dead person. Not even the first time one of them has carried on talking to a detached head.
