Like 3 of the 5 games I mentioned I bought for full (or close to full) price or via pre-order before they went on sale or ended up on PS+ for completely free within a couple of months. That's just my offhand personal experience, but I am seeing this as still being the same.

Founders and Ultimate pack buyers will still get everything they paid for. 4 DLC's + character for founders, or skins for ultimate. Now for 2 days steam players can claim the first 3 DLC's for free, which is $30 tops, but they have been putting Alien Myths on sale lately as well. If they want to buy all of the skins in the ultimate edition, they will have to buy quite a bit of Mercury Points to do so as Ultimate gives an overall discount to those. Plus, would still need to buy Council Apocalypse.

Founders is a little different since a lot of what that came with was in-game fast unlocks of expensive characters, that the rest of us had to grind hundreds of hours for. I also don't know the price since I started after it ended.

Just want to put into perspective the Ultimate Edition: $65 for 4 campaigns and 5 high priced skins. I personally feel these skins are all way too expensive, but for the purposes of what you paid for, the skins were well advertised and their prices were available in-game. The total cost of those 5 skins is 6720 Mercury Points, with the best MP pack costing $20 for 2500 points. So the skins alone, for someone who wants all of them, would need to buy at least $50-$60 worth of points, plus whatever campaigns. If someone gets these free steam campaigns, and then buys Council + the skins, they will have paid more than Ultimate Edition buyers for the same content. They did not pull a fast one on you, as you know that the 4 campaigns included in Ultimate are $40 not $65, a lot of what you get from Ultimate were the (overpriced) skins.

For reference I buy Warframe Prime Access packs on occasion, and all of that stuff is eventually made available in game, or sold for cheaper in the future after vaulting/unvaulting. I still buy Prime packs when I like what they have to offer, because I still think it's a good deal. I like the cosmetics, and the Raiders Ultimate edition was mostly about the cosmetics.

I'm not saying that you can't feel bad that something you paid for is currently free for 2 a day promotion. But you paid for much more than what is currently free. Calling what they did "insidious" when doing the math on it all is an unfair claim.

The integrity of the campaign cost was comprised before we even got fully to enjoy the season pass. A season pass is a lock in for the customer saying "i will pre-purchase the dlc content at a discounted price because i have faith in your product" Once that good faith is violated by giving away the content you just bundled for 60$ a few weeks ago is absolutely insidious. Also you cant cut up someone else's purchase by placing your own standards on it. I bought the Ultimate Edition not for the skins but because i felt the style and character of the game was amazing, i wanted the purple tickets to promote the game to my friends, and i wanted to support the game because i felt amazing games deserve support.  The skins were just a nice bonus because i only like shaes and harecs. I got 5 people in total to purchase the various campaigns and the ultimate bundle, how do you justify gutting other peoples purchases ? If this game was bigger it would be crucified for this move.

I didn't buy Ultimate but I did buy the exact content that is currently up for free- $30 worth of campaigns (only difference is I'm on PS4 not Steam). If others get it cheap or free, cool, it looks like it is having a positive impact on the amount of players which we sorely needed, I'm fine with this.

Also I'm not cutting up the bundle based on my standards and placing arbitrary value on it, I just explained what the bundle provided, and the cost difference to getting that same content without the bundle. You as a bundle buyer still come out ahead compared to someone buying all the same content a la carte after getting first 3 campaigns for free.

I'm curious if you had a problem with Alien Myths being on sale for $1 on various platforms over the last month?

Anyways regardless of our difference in opinion, I respect that you are keeping posts calm. I'm nobody important so hopefully there can be a dev response to this.

Nah u cant say that, everyone is important and deserves their opinions heard. I value your point of view, but  this move makes me feel like im being punished for taking a chance on the game . If this is ok to do then whos to say every skin wont be free in a week ? Even when they reduced skin prices they compensated players for it because its not right. This situation is simply not comparable to a game going on sale or a game being free because it undermines a previous obligation that hasn't been fulfilled yet. I'm not mad that they're trying to increase theyre player base, i'm mad because i got tricked into buying something they knew was going free in a few weeks. When fortnite first dropped openly the devs told people that the game was planned to be free within the next year, and here i am having to explain why week to week bait and switch tactics arent how you gain trust or celebrate those that believed in you.

Basically you're saying, "To hell with the growth of the game!" because of 48 hours. That's the sum of it, really.

Well I don't think your objection to 48 hours is WORTH hurting the game. So many games have done this to. "Free weekends", "Trial offers", etc... you must be new to gaming. It's only 48 hours, man. They will lose it all soon enough and it will all be yours again.

i dont think you understand what happened. Its not a 48 hour trial, they can download all of the campaigns and own them FOREVER, its not anything like a free to play weekend. I know you love the game but please try to understand the issue before hand.

yeah for 48 hours anyone can get the first 3 campaigns for free on Steam and keep them forever, no limit. I tried to claim them myself but I'm not getting it to work on my laptop, clicking the DLC on steam just launches the game so idk

Oh wow!... I have to think about this for a minute.

EDIT: This is bad news. I think they're hurting. This sucks, I want this game to last. I'm getting Evolve (Turtlerock) PTS emotions now. :(

Yes this is the main problem I have too. Its forever. If it was a free weekend meant to bring a little awareness to the game cool, im all for it. Now i respect Draco's opinions for being ok with this and Vector's for being against. Draco's point that the skins bundled in ultimate edition are like 50$ by themselves so one could argue Ultimate owners could chill a little. Founders (Season pass) like myself have gotten a rawer deal. The draw of Founders were the instant access to 3 characters (Kuz,Ginebra,Mikah) and all 4 campaigns for 40$ so at the end of the day  Steam gets what I have paid 30$ so far absolutely free. It wouldnt hurt Mercury Steam to gift Founders/Ultimate players with an appreciation skin or Mercury points to put torwards a skin. From the outside looking in it appears they are appreciating the uninvested gamer more than the ones that supported them from the beginning of this thing. Thats my piece.

I think they could give us some mercury points, a fair amount. I think that would square things away nicely.

I think they should really go all in with free 2 play model. Make the free version get regular xp and the pay one 2x XP along with some other little bonus.
Also please get more content like 10$ skins, weapons, mission types and the inclusion of custom matches, teams of 2 and 3. 4vs4vs4vs4 would be really cool!

I think cutting and pasting sections of maps could work. In "In media res" the second time you have to get around the decoder there is this massive unused part of the level, the one where there are a lot of machine gun emplacements. It looks so awesome!, there are small places like that all over the game.

The overall design of the game is great but a couple of points just arent cutting it. The antagonist is one which I love but an option for ticking it off along with an increase of rewards when you play as antag would do wonders. Having said this make a "solo" antag mode with raider bots. In virtua fighter there are these sort of pre made "loadouts" for characters with a certain play style emulating real pro players. It could really work, that way you get your blueprints, antag affinity and nobody gets salty!

Second part: Repurpose those damn maps!!! They are great, full of details the problem is what makes them great in the first place. They are like tight porcelain displays. Yes there is some variation on which raiders you have,  if there is antagonist but apart from that not much else. For example what if there were 2 routes in the prologue? Right when you have to takedown the gunships, what if you could board them? What if you could go in a U swing to go around the blockade. I'm not saying its easy but it could work.

Another part of repurposing the maps as I said is to give different objective to the same map, start them in different order. For example a breath of hope start right into the last part of  the map fend off a wave of enemies and then proceed in that direction. I know the answer "Hey the cinematics dont work like that!" To that I say to add an "extra" mode. Missions off context/non cannon after all the mechanics arent that realistic. How is it possible that a throw effing desintegrates you but explosives only hurt you?! How is it possible that you have LIVES?! I have never got that part right btw are you a clone or you are "re integrated"?! The thing is those levesl are awesome but they are somewhat underused. A death match on the first part of a breath of hope, rushing down to activate turrets to hunt down the enemy team would be great!

Third part: Go with the times.

I know that the team wants to do their own thing and do it right. But the times arent precisely favorable to do this. I'll say it agains do re colors for skins there is no shame in that. Even better make skins that "pay homage" to other franchises, characters, etc. Blizzard does it and nobody gives them shit so why can't you? Just imagine a Samus aran zero suit for ginebra, a Belmont skin for Harec, a Dante one for Lycus.

Raiders raid right? What I mean is I dont see much purpose for the campaign structure, it kinda is confusing for new players. For example you can play any given mission watch the custscene and then have a team that never appears on cutscenes! Who is this Mikah? Ginebra is hot but whats her deal? Wasn't Kuzman an enemy? It is really akward.

I know that someone up there at Mercury has a particular dislike for Overw... I get it, its really overvalued but the characters have some charm. Having said this Raiders has more charisma, problem is you have to be a lore master in and outside the game to appreciate it.

If you changed to "raids" instead of campaings meaning a singular level with a "prologue" a sort of written intro in which states, objectives, who is who that kind of thing. In and out. On top of that most of my play sessions are missions from here and there instead of a campaign in order.

I have to go but tomorrow Ill continue this wall of text ty.

sorry for bad formatting.

I'm also getting the impression that MSE may be trying a last-ditch effort to pick up some steam (no pun intended), before maybe calling it quits and thanking everyone for their support and the journey (blahblahblah).

Although I highly doubt they'd give refunds like Epic Games did with Paragon.

I think if the numbers don't pick up substantially (Steam numbers are still pretty weak for a game giving away what I bought for free), we might see this come to an end before the end of the year.

It'd be cool to know what their numbers are on consoles and Windows 10.

Although Epic Games was supposedly sitting at tens of thousands of players and still thought it was insufficient.

I think it's a mix of having players come on board and selling AFFORDABLE skins.

The $30 or $25 skin has to be a huge turn off to some people. Even if you don't have any plans to buy it, it FEELS like the company is waiting to catch suckers or whales. Or purposely giving them high prices, so when they do sales the cost is closer to what they actually should cost.
