Surrender for antagonist
on: September 14, 2018, 06:30:25 PM
The subject is clear I think

Instead of pushing players to rage quit in antagonist you should realy think about a system to let the antagonist leave the game when he want.
It's already enable for the raider I don't understand why an antagonist could not surrender.

When a game is lost you can know it. It dont make sense to watch raiders accomplish their objectives. If you want to do that nowadays we can go on youtube looking at people streaming. You dont play a game to be taken as an hostage.

Sure there is a difference in term of level with mobs but it won't change the tide of the game if  the anta doesnt respawn. I'm sure you could find a way to buff mobs while the game's running, or debuffing raiders.

I think the reason they don't do this is because many people just use antag to get Antag affinity. So you would have PvEers just playing antag and surrendering at the start just to get their affinity. This is probably not a healthy solution. A better solution would be to make losing rewards better, and to not have a win or loss affect the % of your BP.

I mean, yea this would be great to have surrender. I would do it ALL the time as antag, would save on time and get XP faster, but I think MSE probably doesn't want this.

Sure I understand but you suppress xp or affinity gain. When you know a game is done you surrender at the beginning and not at the end. More you can see a player activity with the following principles :
-damage taken
-damage given
-kill counter
-time alive/dead

With that you can determine the antagonist contribution to the game. They have acces to games statistics. I think they are abble to determine a good way to set up limitations.
Honestly playing as antagonist is not as rewarding as being raider but at least let antagonist roll through game to learn it mechanics'.

Nope. I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree. There are plenty of games I KNEW I was going to lose.... until I didn't. I play antag to push myself and for the fun of it, and if I'm getting railed, it just pushes me to change, adapt, and overcome.

I did not mean to pick this weapon. Warm is awful in pvp:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM9nma0vRrU

By all measurements, I should have lost this. The mid point of this video I finish killing them all on Survive.... but the finisher animation takes too long and they get their lives back, and Uras is pretty much on his final health bar.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH5wsbNUOtY

I had 10 MMR higher than this team:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr9kJJr5roQ
(I actually play a BUNCH of matches with my MMR being way higher and thus giving me a huge handicap. I don't record them all because it happens so much, but my biggest difference so far was 18 friggin %. It was on Mind Over Matter and I won in the final phase when Ginebra sprinted into a minefield)

Another hard Enemy Within win vs. a good team. I consider this mission the hardest for antag to beat against any semi-competent team. And this one included Schneider:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSMo5b8pebo

And finally, my hardest antag match ever played.... I have a limit to my recording so only can capture 15 minutes, but I had to have at least been fighting for 30+ minutes by the time this video starts. I was getting steamrolled every time I spawned. Konstantin is on PC with an insane aim. This was the first time I have ever had lives bought on me, and within 5 minutes of them buying lives, I finally won.

Well, Draco, I think some people aren't as enthusiastic about PvP as you are. I don't disagree with your advice, it makes sense for those who are PvP minded and love it. But I think it's fair to say that there are a lot of players who are PvEers who are doing antag just for the affinity and to balance the Aequilibrium. For them it already a chore in the first place and the game kind of makes it so you have to do it otherwise you can't get certain cards and your are punished with reduced XP.

Do you honestly feel good about this? You're just bothering these people, wasting their time/gold and possibly blueprint for what just to try to show off? Idk maybe I'm just weird but i don't see the appeal in pvp where you just need to be as cheap as possible to win.

*sigh*...here we go again....  Sir you an me are PvEers, we don't like this sort of thing and yes, in the current system, it sucks for us. But you have to understand that PvPers like it and, in a healthy situation, PvPers should be fighting PvPers. But we're mixed together a lot, and lord knows I tilt easily from antagonists, but we're forced to interact with each other. This breeds toxicity and resentment. I know it's hard for me of all people to say this, but you kind of have to blame the system and game design more than the antagonists. EVERYONE, including antagonists, are seeing that we may need optional PvP. Troll antagonists will say they still want to prey on players who don't like PvP.

People like us should be looking at the developers to solve this. The occasional cheap antagonists using particularly nasty heroes will tilt and cause me to vow revenge, but at the end of the day MSE are the ones choosing to leave things as is. Or not, maybe they may change this soon.

lol.... let me break it down for you:
Do I feel good that I can overcome the odds and pull a win from what feels like a hopeless fight? YES!

I already stated that I play for the fun of it and to push myself. I am disappointed in the rewards either way, might as well have fun while doing it.

I already know and am friends with about half of the players in those videos. And half of the ones I'm not, I have messaged to tell them it was a GG.

I am playing my role as intended. I am sorry that it impacts how we get rewards, but that is not my fault. You sound like someone that would get angry for being the first survivor to be sacrificed in Dead by Daylight, or a killer angry at a survivor for surviving, or someone who would kick me out of their lobby for using Grabs as Astaroth when playing Soul Caliber.

The players I have fought and messaged are hardly ever salty. They exist, but overall not prevalent. The final video I posted, which was a stupidly long fight, was even on a Blueprint mission. I could only message 2 of them because 1 was on PC and 1 couldn't be found due to his name, but of the 2 that I did, they were really cool even though they lost a BP and paid 40k for lives.

I didn't post them here because not relevant to getting steamrolled, but during the Shy BP hunt I antagged a *lot* and encountered certain players a ton of times. I finally got it by just stomping a team so hard they surrendered. Messaged 2 of them after because I knew they had faced me so many times, and they both added me as friends.
Good players recognize good players.

I'm motivated like Goku or Akuma, to fight other strong players.

I made this kind of game too but I had the feelling their was a break in the group so I played up. It doesnt happen so often when I surrend. But when I'm testing a build... Yup I surrend because it is worthless. There is also an issue with the UI, people don't know or see that there is a surrending option.
